The Allans and Berwickshire

My Great,Great Great Grandfather was Richard Allan, he was born in 1805 and raised in the Berwickshire District of Scotland.

BERWICKSHIRE, SCOTLAND

The oldest records we have, to date, of the ALLAN Family date back to baptisimal records for 3 of the 4 children of Richard ALLAN (bp1735) and Elizabeth REDPATH (There were no records for the oldest son, Andrew who was born prior to 1735). Richard was (most likely a Shepherd and married around 1750). The family lived in the Langton/Duns area from at least 1757 to 1795. Son Richard was buried in Langton 1841.

Andrew ALLAN (b1765) was a farmer and married Sibbilla RICHARDSON in 1779 and brought up a family of at least 4 children (Jean,1780;Richard,1782;Elizabeth,1784; and Margaret,1785)

"YESTER PARK", SCOTLAND

Richard ALLAN (b1782) was born in Duns, Berwickshire and married Elizabeth DARLING in 1804 and lived in several locations. At one time he was a Shepherd at Yester Park/Newlands farm near Gifford, Haddingtonshire. His many letters to his son, Andrew, were written from these farms.
